        l   Manufacturer and exporter of herbal extracts and dietary supplements Sami Group is launching its personal care and colour cosmetic range of products. The products will be launched simultaneously in India, Malaysia and the Middle East.

The $100 million Sami Group sells its products to the US, Europe, Japan, China, Australia, UAE, South Africa and Malaysia from the manufacturing facilities of Sami Labs in India and its overseas arm Sabinsa Corporation in the US. While it supplies active ingredients, formulations and herbal extracts to leading pharmaceutical companies and FMCG manufacturers, Sami Direct has been selling branded nutraceutical products including Vita Essentials, Macumax Eye care and Calci D Max.

The company is now further expanding its B2C business with the launch of personal care and cosmetics under the brand name ‘Johara’. “We are launching 88 SKUs in skin care, hair care and colour cosmetics. Made of natural ingredients, these products will be clinically documented and tested and hence will stand out in the crowd of products in the personal care space,” Muhammed Majeed, founder and managing director of SAMIGroup told Financial Chronicle.

 Sami Direct BusinessThe products will be positioned in the premium category and will be simultaneously launched in India, Malaysia and the Middle East. The manufacturing facility in Bangalore will supply products for the domestic market while Sabinsa will supply products to Malaysia and the Middle East. In three months the products will also be made available in Indonesia. The company expects to clock a turnover of Rs 100 to Rs 150 crore from cosmetics in two years.

The company is also expanding the capacity of its manufacturing facility in Bangalore by 25 tonnes a day. Further, the company is in the process of setting up manufacturing facility in the north east to tap the availability of herbal products in the region. The group has been growing its topline at a rate 25 to 30 per cent and hopes to clock a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in three years.
